Trust & Safety
Trust is the product. Every policy and operations decision on BASE242 is built around protecting both sides of the transaction — the visiting guest and the local Bahamian seller.
Vendor verification
Every seller passes a multi-step check before their listings go live: business license or TIN, government-issued ID, physical operating address, and category-specific credentials such as boat registration for excursion operators. Verification is handled locally by our Nassau team.
Secure payments
Payments run through PCI-DSS compliant processors. BASE242 never stores raw card numbers. Funds are held until the guest confirms the excursion happened or the item was delivered as described — then paid out to the vendor's Bahamian bank account.
Buyer protection
If a seller cancels, an excursion doesn't run, or an item never ships, BASE242 refunds the guest in full. Guests can open a dispute from the order or booking page and our team responds within one business day.
Platform security
Access, encryption, and audit logging follow ISO 27001 controls. Guests and sellers sign in over an encrypted connection and can enable email-based verification on new devices.
